SCS CLEANS UP IN LIVERPOOL
SCS Facility Services has launched a new office in Liverpool, offering facilities management and specialist cleaning services to social landlords and private businesses across Merseyside.
Led by industry expert, Sarah Southworth, the firm deliver a range of property-based services from full void replacement and property MOT’s to trauma cleaning (where a death or serious incident has taken place) to needle sweeps, environmental cleaning, pest control and more.
With the firm’s head office based in Lancashire, expansion in Liverpool has come following a large scale contract win with a local housing association focusing on property MOT’s, a service whereby repairs and maintenance to housing stock are managed proactively preventing costly and timely reactive works.
The new office on Bridge Industrial Estate, close to the city centre, includes a storage and training area with downstairs office plus a further two offices on the first floor. To facilitate the new contract, SCS has taken on five skilled plumbers, joiners and plasterers as well as one supervisor, all from the local area.
Sarah explained: “This move to Liverpool is an incredibly exciting move for us. What started as a one-woman cleaning round developed into cleaning commercial building, which took us down the route of housing associations works. Today, I employ over 40 lads directly and we offer a complete range of property services. Whilst our business began in Lancashire, Liverpool was the next natural step for us as we have been working in this area for some time.
“We are one of the first businesses in the UK to offer property MOT’s and housing associations are really keen on this concept. The new six team members have been taken on specifically for this contract, however, we will also be offering void works, adaptations etc through a separate team.”
“We are committed to the Liverpool market and have signed a three-year lease at the commercial property. Over the next five years, we’ll be investing well over £1million in terms of staff, resources, premises.”
Sole owner and managing director of SCS Facility Services, Sarah Southworth, is still keen to get stuck in on site and can be seen working alongside the operatives at the muckiest of jobs. She added: “Team work is so important at this business and I want to always lead by example. I’m trying my best to pull away from site but always feel the urge to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in, so that’s often were you’ll find me! I look forward to making the move into Liverpool and making our mark on the city and surrounding areas.”
SCS is an award-winning firm that took the title of Kimberly Clark Best Cleaning Company in the UK, a two-year accolade in 2015. Further information regarding SCS can be found at www.specialisedcleaningservices.co.uk
